EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Linebacker Barry
Robertson, who was allocated by the
Giants to the Hamburg Sea Devils, has been one of NFL Europa’s best
defensive players through the first two weeks of the season.
Robertson, who is Hamburg’s starting middle linebacker, had a team-high nine
tackles, including seven solo stops, in a season-opening 24-18 loss to the
Cologne Centurions. On Sunday,
Robertson had two tackles and a sack in the
Sea Devils’ 16-7 victory over the Berlin Thunder. The three-yard sack on a
third down early in the second quarter forced the Thunder to punt.
Robertson, who was signed by the Giants on Feb. 8, is a former captain at
Louisiana Tech.
The Giants have five players in NFL Europa, though only three are currently
active.
Amsterdam Admirals running back Cedric Humes caught one pass for seven yards
in the season-opening 30-14 loss to Frankfurt, then carried twice for seven
yards in a 16-10 loss to the Rhein Fire.
Tight end Charles Davis of Berlin has started both games, catching a total
of four passes for 16 yards.
Running back Decori Birmingham of Frankfurt started the season well, rushing
for 33 yards, catching three passes and returning two punts and one kickoff
in the Galaxy’s victory over Amsterdam. But Birmingham hurt his knee and was
sent to, ironically, Birmingham, Ala., for evaluation and treatment. He is
on injured reserve.
Defensive tackle Sir Henry Anderson is on the Admirals’ practice squad.
